Written by her loving foster mom ✨

Grizabella wasn’t a happy girl when we, her new foster family, took her in—and rightfully so. Her previous family had abandoned her, leaving her in a cardboard box in the pouring rain. (Who does that?!) The box had a list written in Sharpie of Grizabella’s “bad behavior,” such as not using her litter box.
Grizz didn’t like being held. She wasn’t wild about being petted. She initially had gone to a very loving foster home, but there were other cats, kittens, and a child there, so she didn’t get all the attention and care she needed.
Grizz required a safe, quiet space to help her decompress, and to overcome her previous trauma. We were able to give Grizabella her own private space away from our other pets. She had access to a window which allowed her to watch the birds and chipmunks. It wasn’t a big space, but it was hers. ♥️
Every day I’d go into her room a few times throughout the day. I’d feed her, brush her (which she loved), play with her (on her terms), and talk to her. (She steered clear of discussions on politics and religion, but did delve into a few social issues. 😉) Seriously, Grizz loved having conversations. What a talker! 🗣️
She used her litter box and scratching pad religiously. She wasn't much on toys, but loved when I'd get out her feather wand to play with—that girl could jump!
It didn’t take long to learn that Grizz was an affectionate, sweet girl. She just wasn’t a “lap kitty” or “cuddle kitty.” That was okay. She still loved interaction – being brushed, playing, talking, etc. But she was also very independent, and was good being by herself.
She could also be a bit of a diva—but when you're a beautiful tortoiseshell kitty like Grizabella is, that's to be expected! 😻 She let us know when she was in the mood for playing or being brushed, as well as when she preferred to just hang out on her own.
We knew Grizabella would be the perfect cat for the right family. (We were tempted to be that family, but then we couldn’t foster other cats in need.) 🐈🐈⬛
We’re glad we got to help Grizabella on her journey to a permanent home. We’re sure her new family loves her and appreciates her as much as we did! 🐾
